About private ServiceOntario centres

A private ServiceOntario centre is operated by an independent business owner (a service provider) who is under contract with the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services.

A private ServiceOntario centre provides:

  • driver and vehicle services
  • Ontario Photo Cards
  • most health card services (not renewing a health card)

After a private ServiceOntario centre closes

When a private ServiceOntario centre closes ServiceOntario uses the existing Vendor of Record (VOR) arrangement to find a replacement service provider.

The VOR agreement reduces the amount of time it takes to procure replacement service providers to minimize service gaps within a community.

The competitive procurement process to establish the VOR arrangement is closed to new vendors.

The current VOR arrangement is in effect until 2020, and may be extended for an additional year.

New VOR arrangement

When the current VOR arrangement ends, ServiceOntario may decide to establish a replacement VOR arrangement through an open and competitive procurement process using the Government of Ontario’s online tendering system.
