Overview
Protect Ontario Workers Employment Response (POWER) Centres, formerly known as Action Centres, are temporary service locations that offer transition assistance for workers affected by mass layoffs. These centres will provide individuals with wrap-around supports and the tools and resources needed to re-enter the workforce. These locations are typically set up by unions, employee or employer associations and municipalities.
POWER Centres help workers, employers and communities adapt to economic change while strengthening and supporting the province’s workforce and economy.
POWER Centre services
POWER Centres provide workers with:
- tar geted training referrals
- worker assistance
- access to Employment Ontario programs
- access to digital learning and career planning tools such as online courses
- Service Canada connections
- financial counselling
- post-employment transition supports
How to access POWER Centre services
Eligible workers will learn about POWER Centres from their union or workplace representative.
Support for job seekers
Whether or not they are eligible to receive services through POWER Centres, job seekers can get free, 1-on-1 support from Employment Ontario, including:
- resume writing assistance
- interview training and preparation
- skills training
