Changing how you access the courts in Toronto
Starting October 14, 2025, the process for searching court cases online will vary based on the region where the matter is held.
You must use the Ontario Courts Public Portal for cases in the Toronto region.
You must use the Justice Services Online portal for cases outside the Toronto region.
Use Ontario Courts Public Portal to search cases in the Toronto region
You can use the Ontario Courts Public Portal to search for the following types of cases:
- civil
- Divisional Court
- bankruptcy
- Small Claims Court
- enforcement
- family
Available search options include:
- case search to find case(s) by case type, court location, case number, and other criteria
- party search to locate case(s) by searching for a party name
- calendar search, to view court event records by location, date, and more
You can only use this tool to search for court case information. You can't use this tool's information in any other way, including saving, copying or sharing it.
Your session will expire if you’re inactive for 40 minutes.
If you are not able to find the information you need, you may contact the court office where the case was, or is being heard.
Search for court cases in the Toronto Region
Use Justice Services Online portal to search cases outside the Toronto region
For all case types, you can use this tool to search:
- court case title
- Superior Court of Justice file number
- Ontario Court of Justice Information number
- court location
- next event/hearing type and date (if scheduled)
- publication bans
Civil cases in the Superior Court of Justice
For civil cases in the Superior Court of Justice, you can use this tool to search:
- name of the legal representative of the person or company
- claim amount
- date the case was opened
- most recent order type and date
Criminal cases in the Superior Court of Justice
For criminal cases in the Superior Court of Justice, you can use this tool to search:
- name of the legal representative of the person or company
- date the accused person was committed to stand trial in the Superior Court of Justice
For criminal cases in the Ontario Court of Justice, you can use this tool to search:
- date on which the Information was sworn
This search tool won't show cases with public access restrictions due to laws or court orders. It will let you know if a court case is subject to a publication ban. The search tool may not reflect a publication ban that was recently granted. You must check with the right courthouse to see if a case has a publication ban. Confirm the details of the ban and follow any restrictions.
This search tool will only provide information about active criminal cases either:
- with a future court date
- with a court date within the past 7 days
- where a bench warrant issued within the past 5 years
You can only use this tool to search for court case information. You cannot use this tool for anything else, including saving, copying, or sharing the information.
If you are not able to find the information you need, you may contact the court office where the case was, or is being heard.
Find court case information
Search court cases by entering the:
- type of case
- name of one of the people involved
- name of one of the businesses involved
- year of birth of an accused person (Ontario Court of Justice criminal searches only)
- Superior Court of Justice file number
- Ontario Court of Justice Information number
- location of the courthouse where the case is being heard

Before you log into the self-search tool, make sure you have:
- a My Ontario Account
