The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is proposing to undertake a transportation study to evaluate potential streetcar connections between Dufferin Street (in the area of the Dufferin Gate) and the existing streetcar track at the Roncesvalles Avenue and Queen Street West intersection. The purpose of this undertaking is to satisfy the existing and future travel demand between downtown Toronto and south Etobicoke by means of a high speed, high capacity streetcar transit service.
The TTC will consider alternative streetcar routes to connect Dufferin Street with Roncesvalles Avenue within a general study area bounded by Queen Street to the north, Dufferin Street to the east, Exhibition Place to the south and Lake Shore Boulevard to the west. However, the study will also consider ridership opportunities and potential effects that extend beyond this general study area.
