Overview
The Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF) is the Province's main general assistance grant to municipalities, providing a total of $600 million in unconditional funding to 388 municipalities through the 2026 OMPF program.
The program primarily supports small, northern and rural municipalities across the province. Its objectives are to:
- recognize the challenges of small, northern and rural municipalities, while targeting funding to those with more challenging fiscal circumstances
- support areas with limited property assessment
- assist municipalities that are adjusting to year-over-year funding changes.
2026 OMPF
For 2026 the OMPF will include an additional increase of $50 million to provide $600 million in unconditional funding to 388 municipalities. The $50 million enhancement will be targeted to small, northern and rural municipalities and those with a limited property tax base.
This funding will assist municipalities in providing critical municipal services to people across the province.
The OMPF program will continue to be responsive to municipal circumstances through annual data updates and related adjustments.

Note: Figures are rounded.
Transitional Assistance will continue to ensure that core grant recipient municipalities in northern Ontario receive at least 90 per cent of their 2025 OMPF allocation, and those in southern Ontario receive at least 85 per cent.
