3. Illegal scoring targets
- E-Class (Novice)

- By hand or leg; No throws/takedowns from above the waist.
- No over-hip, overhead throws, pile-drivers, or body slams
- Strikes/Kicks:
- D-Class (Intermediate)
- Strikes/Kicks:
- No elbows, knees, or joint locks
- No blind strikes or spin kicks to the head, to neck and back
- No hits to groin, spine, neck, back of head or inside leg
- Light Contact and no consecutive/successive targeting to the head; only one head hit per engagement

4. Scoring fouls/penalties
- Admonitions are Technical Fouls committed against the players own self:
- Intentionally removing equipment causing delay.
- Asking to stop fight without valid reason, or to gain advantage.
- Warnings are Personal Fouls committed against the opponent:
- Illegal hits
- Unsafe maneuvers
- Three warnings issued ends the match, Win is awarded to the opponent.
- Disqualifications:
- Any player who draws blood or is deemed to have used excessive contact will be disqualified from the match with the Win awarded to the opponent.
- Unsportsmanlike behaviour (violent, aggressive, argumentative) will result in automatic DQ, and expulsion from remainder of the events.
- Infractions and delays are deemed to have been committed when:
- A player fails to engage within 8 seconds after the order to fight, 1 point is awarded to the opponent.
- A player fails to get up within 3 seconds after intentionally falling, 1 point is awarded to the opponent.
- A player receives an Admonition infraction, 1 point is awarded to the opponent.
- A player is given a forcible counting (standing counts) due to a legal hit, 2 points are awarded to the opposing player.
- A player is given a forcible counting (standing counts) due to an illegal hit, no points will be awarded, and a warning issued.
- A player receives a warning, 2 points are awarded to the opponent.
- A Foul is deemed to have been committed when:
- A player holds the opponent/runs away passively.
- A player raises a hand to stop the bout in a disadvantageous position.
- A player delays the fight intentionally.
- A player acts impolitely towards the judges/disobeys decisions.
- A player presents with no mouth guard, spits it out, or intentionally loosens/tampers with equipment.
- A player fails to observe any protocol.
- Personal Fouls: A personal foul is deemed to have been committed when:
- A player attacks before the call “Kaishi” (Start) or after the call “Ting!” (Stop!).
- A player hits prohibited areas.
- A player hits opponent with any prohibited method.
- A player uses excessive or uncontrolled force.
- A player attacks before the call.
- Penalties: The following are how penalties are managed:
- Admonition will be given for a technical foul.
- A warning will be given for a personal foul.
- A player with 3 personal fouls will be disqualified from the bout.
- A player who intentionally uses excessive force or illegal techniques will be disqualified from the bout.
- A player who uses drugs or inhaling oxygen during rest periods will be disqualified.
5. Result declarations
- Best 2 of 3 rounds - highest points scored wins each round.
- If a player wins 2 rounds, that player wins the match.
- If both players win a match, a third round will ensue, and winner will take the match.
- If there is a tie for either a round, or a match, the player with less warnings will win.
- If there is a tie at the end a round or match, and there are either equal or no warnings, the victory is awarded to the player with the lesser weight advantage.
- Push outs: 2 scored outs ends the round, or as per class adjustment allow.
6. Athlete attire and required equipment
- All competitors shall wear WushuOntario approved clothing and approved/sanctioned protective gear depending on class.
- Competitors are required to provide their own clothing, and should include the following:
- Approved uniform apparel consists of shorts and a T-shirt (Women) or tank top (Men) and colours shall be red, blue or black. Each fighter should have 1 set of each colour.
- Logos on the apparel may consist only of either the "club" logo or name, or the manufacturer of the apparel; it may not be a photo or large design unless prior approval is attained in writing.
- Approved apparel includes any shorts or t-shirt or tank top that is matching in approved colours and that are solid without markings other than that indicated in 2.B.
- The apparel may not have loose strings, buttons, zippers, or buckles attached that may cause potential injury to competing athletes.
- Religious Head Wear or apparel is allowed provided it matches solid colour code of equipment and does not have any ornaments or objects that may impede upon the safety of the competitor or his/her opponent.
- An official will inspect the equipment of all contestants prior to competition to ensure that the contestant’s equipment meets minimum standards and is in good repair.
- Competitors with faith requirements are permitted attire in line with the following standards:
- Long sleeve top, non-form fitting.
- Men: Full length compression pants, form-fitting.
- Women: Full length trousers, not form fitting.
- Women: head scarf, must fit underneath the protective headgear.
- Material for above attire must be made of a flexible material that is not excessively slick or slippery (spandex, polyester, nylon, and microfiber combinations are acceptable).
- Clothing worn should not inhibit the full range motion of the competitor’s body and limbs, or interfere with their opponent’s actions in any way, and not impede any protective gear.
- Protective gear
- Protective gear is separated into colours, namely red, blue and/or black.
- Protective gear includes headgear, gloves, chest protector.
- Competitors are required to provide their own mouth guard, groin cups and hand wraps. The groin cups must be worn under the trunks.
- Depending on class and type of event, the equipment will have specific requirements.

- WushuOntario approved (not sanctioned) dipped foam full-wrap helmet with plastic face shield manufactured by Century, Macho, or similar design and construction by a recognized commercial martial arts equipment manufacturer.
- IWUF Sanctioned 10 oz Gloves manufactured by Wesing for ages 12–14, 15–17, 18+.
- IWUF Sanctioned 8 oz Boxing Gloves manufactured by Wesing for ages 8–11.
- WushuOntario approved (not sanctioned) 6 oz Boxing Gloves for ages 7 and under.
- IWUF approved Chest/Rib Guard: Red/Blue, manufactured by Wesing for ages 15 and up.
- WushuOntario approved martial arts (not sanctioned) Chest/Rib Guard: for ages 14 and under.
- WushuOntario approved (not sanctioned) Shin-Instep covering.
- Mouth guard.
- Groin protection (males)
- C Class:
- IWUF Sanctioned Open face helmet manufactured by Wesing, for ages 12 and up.
- IWUF Sanctioned 10 oz gloves manufactured by Wesing for ages 12 and up.
