Completed regulatory amendments for 2018
Completed November 29, 2018: R. R. O. 1990, Regulation 428 (Seed Corn - Plan) under the Farm Products Marketing Act
The Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission (commission) is proposing to make amendments to Regulation 428 (Seed Corn - Plan) related to the composition and election of the local board. These amendments include the amalgamation of Districts 1 and 2, an increase in the board member term of office from two to three years and the introduction of a consecutive term limit of four terms followed by one year of ineligibility for board election.
Completed May 2, 2018: O. Reg. 125/04 (Apples - Marketing) under the Farm Products Marketing Act
The commission is proposing to make amendments to O. Reg. 125/04 (Apples - Marketing) which adjust timelines for the negotiation of annual agreements between the Ontario Apple Growers (OAG) and juice apple processors. The amendments include changes to the negotiation and arbitration deadlines as well as the effective date of the agreements.
Completed May 1, 2018: R. R. O. 1990 Regulation 761, (Milk and Milk Products) under the Milk Act
The commission is proposing to amend Regulation 761 under the Milk Act. The amendments were requested by Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO) after consultation with dairy farmers and industry stakeholders. DFO's request resulted from an agreement to harmonize milk quality programs in Eastern Canada. The proposed amendments would make changes to the raw milk quality program including animal care and welfare requirements for dairy cattle.
Completed March 29, 2018: Term contract clause under R. R. O. 1990, Regulation 440 (Vegetables for Processing - Marketing) under the Farm Products Marketing Act
The commission is proposing a further amendment to the term contract clause under Regulation 440 in response to stakeholder feedback to amendments that were finalized on December 21, 2017.
