
Order in Council 1603/2024
On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:
Whereas the Government of Ontario is committed to bolstering the Province’s economy by attracting foreign trade and investment.
And whereas the Government of Ontario is taking key actions to better position Ontario to compete internationally.
Therefore, pursuant to the prerogative of His Majesty the King in Right of Ontario to provide for the appointment of advisors to serve His Majesty’s Government of Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities,
- Special Advisors – Establishment of Positions
Eight positions of Special Advisor, Agent-General, accountable to the Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, are each hereby established or continued as set out below:- The Special Advisor, Agent-General (London, United Kingdom) position is hereby continued for a period ending no later than July 14, 2026;
- The Special Advisor, Agent-General (Chicago) position is hereby continued for a period not exceeding three years effective January 27, 2025;
- The Special Advisor, Agent-General (Dallas) position is hereby continued for a period not exceeding three years effective January 27, 2025;
- Up to five (5) additional Special Advisor, Agent-General positions are established for a period each not exceeding three years from the date of each first appointment to these positions by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.
- Terms of Reference
The Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade shall determine the terms of reference for each Special Advisor, Agent-General and may amend them from time to time. - Appointment
The Lieutenant Governor in Council may appoint a Special Advisor, Agent-General to serve at the pleasure of the Lieutenant Governor in Council for a period not extending beyond the end date of each of the positions as determined under paragraph (1). - Remuneration and Expenses
The Special Advisor, Agents-General shall be paid such remuneration and shall be reimbursed for such expenses as the Lieutenant Governor in Council may determine.
And further that Orders in Council 956/2019, 92/2022 and 778/2024 be revoked effective January 27, 2025.
