Service description
CRS Education and Research services are provided to support the practice and ongoing professional development of regulated health professionals and allied service providers delivering School-Based Rehabilitation Services (SBRS) and/or Community-Based Rehabilitation Services (CBRS), including SmartStart Hubs.
People served
Education and Research services primarily support regulated health professionals and allied service providers in delivering evidence-informed interventions and training to children and youth that are receiving rehabilitation services in school-based and/or community-based settings across Ontario.
Program / service features
To support quality services in SBRS and CBRS, regulated health professionals and allied service providers are provided with information and guidance through training and workshops/webinars, educational resources, and communities of practice to support adherence to program guidelines. Research and evaluation activities to support identification and implementation of evidence-based improvements to interventions may also be completed.
Specific service provided
- develop resources and training supports for regulated health professionals and allied service providers delivering children’s rehabilitation services
- foster the ongoing practice and education of clinicians through activities such as communities of practice, information webinars, workshops, mentorship opportunities, etc.
- support clinicians in their practice by sharing information and developing supplementary educational program materials
- in consultation with the ministry, create and implement research and evaluation activities to inform future policy approaches
- support research and evaluation activities to inform evidence-based approaches to program delivery and continuous quality improvement

- the Preschool Speech and Language and Children’s Rehabilitation Services Guidelines, 2023, SmartStart Hubs Guidelines, 2022 or any subsequent updated versions (or any other supporting policy documents provided by the Ministry)

Training sessions include both in-person or online training modules, webinars and/or workshops. Training sessions do not include mentorship sessions or large group sessions facilitating knowledge sharing among communities of practice. |
