Overview

Use these study guides if you are writing Building Code exams based upon the 2024 Building Code. 

If you are being tested on the 2012 Building Code, please use the study guides for the 2012 Building Code exams. 

We expect exams will use the 2024 Building Code starting in spring 2026.

Review this guide to find out what areas of the Building Code Act, 1992, the Building Code or Supplementary Standards you must know to pass your exams and qualify to be a:

  • building official (chief building official, supervisor, manager, plans examiner, inspector)
  • designer
  • on-site sewage system installer

Each syllabus lists the specific sections and sub-sections that are relevant to each exam.

Pay close attention to the sub-sections required and those that are excluded.
