Service description

The Student Nutrition Program (SNP) Capacity Building services are provided to support partnership management and professional development opportunities for SNP Lead Agencies.

People served

SNP Capacity Building services primarily support Lead Agencies in effectively delivering the SNP in Ontario schools.

Program / service features

To support quality SNP delivery, Lead Agencies are provided with support to deliver the SNP as well as build and maintain partnerships including information and guidance through trainings, conferences and/or webinars. Development and maintenance of provincial partnerships that support overall program delivery are also supported.

Specific service provided

  • Supports to develop and maintain provincial partnerships with entities such as corporate donors, charitable organizations, and other industry partners that provide donated products, preferential pricing, and other in-kind supports
  • Develop and administer professional development opportunities using digital platforms, webinars, conferences, and training courses

Program goals

  • Promote local community participation in the implementation of SNPs programs at the local level
  • Increase the number of provincial partnerships that support service delivery from a wide variety of food producers, food processors, transportation and logistics providers

Ministry expectations

SNP is managed in accordance with the Student Nutrition Program Guidelines, 2018 and the Student Nutrition Program - Nutrition Guidelines, 2020 (or any subsequent updated versions and any additional supporting documents provided by the ministry).
