Plant locally sourced trees. They may be better adapted to your local climate conditions.
Plant a variety of tree species to minimize the effects of tree pests and diseases.
Plant trees in the fall if possible. Trees planted in fall have more time to root before they are exposed to dry periods the following season. They are more likely to flourish and may need less watering.
