Claims system changes are complete for the colonoscopy services updated for the new ColonCancerCheck program recommendations

Overview

The Ministry of Health is working with Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) to align payment of colonoscopy services and colorectal cancer screening reporting to the updated recommendations for colorectal cancer screening under the ColonCancerCheck (CCC) program.

This is a follow-up from INFOBulletin 260702 to notify physicians that the claims system updates required to support these changes effective July 1, 2026, have now been implemented.

ColonCancerCheck recommendations can be found at CancerCareOntario.ca.

What this means

As of August 1, 2026, physicians who delayed submission of eligible claims while system updates were being completed may now submit those claims.

In addition, any eligible claims rejected or paid at $0.00 with an explanatory code may also be resubmitted for processing that meet all the following criteria:

  • Were submitted for service dates on or after July 1, 2026
  • Were for repeat or follow-up colonoscopy services
  • Fell within the revised 5- to 10-year follow-up interval
